        Wallaceburg  3  Dresden  3  November 23, 2007

The Dresden Jr. Kings got a much needed point Friday night as they battled the first place Wallaceburg Lakers to a 3-3 draw at the Lambton-Kent Memorial Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Wallaceburg opened the scoring in the second at 7:08 on a goal by Norm Leger from a long pass off the sideboards.  Then at 16:35, Patrick Rice scored his first of two goals on the night, as he re-directed a shot to tie the game at one. The game stayed tied for less than a minute. Cam Graham, who was outstanding in the nets for Dresden, turned the puck over to Jason Versical who quickly fired it home to put the Lakers ahead, 2-1.  Justin Durston walked in alone and beat Graham at 19:59 sending Wallaceburg to the dressing room with a 3-1 lead.

The Kings came out skating in the third period.  Joe Deboer stole the puck deep in the Laker end and got it to Dan Hyatt in the corner.  Hyatt fed Park in the slot area, who snapped a shot past Wallaceburg goalie Ryan George, to pull the Kings within one at 3:04.  Patrick Rice knotted the game at three, on a 45-foot slapper along the ice.

The tie was never broken because of great goaltending by both Graham and George.  First it was Graham, stopping Lozon in alone with two minutes left in regulation. Graham came up big again in the overtime, stopping the Lakers in alone one more time.  Then it was George’s turn,  robbing Aaron Gibbings from the slot with a minute to go in the extra period.

The Lakers outshot Dresden, 39-34.  Neither team scored a power play goal on five opportunities.  Dresden’s coach, Bob Price, moved Patrick Rice to the forward line from defense to play with Alex McDonald and Kyle Vink.  The move paid great dividends as the line created scoring chances and Rice cashed in twice.  The Tunstall Three Stars were ……. Cam Graham, Patrick Rice and Dustin Cope.  The Kings are busy this week.  They travel to Essex on Tuesday, home to Blenheim on Wednesday, and in Alvinston on Friday night.
