 Mooretown  3                  Dresden  2            November 17, 2007

The Jr. Kings traveled to Mooretown on Saturday night in dire need of a win.  They played well enough to win, but fell short, losing 3-2 to the Flags.  A feisty Dresden team played with energy and grit, had solid goaltending from Cam Graham, but just couldn’t cash in when they needed to.

Mooretown opened the scoring at 4:13 of the first period when Donny Bowling snapped off a hard wrist shot that beat Graham high on the stick side.  Joe Deboer tied the game for the Kings a little more than a minute later, with assists going to Dan Hyatt and Jeremy Park.  Then, for the second night in a row, the Jr. Kings gave up a last minute goal to trail 2-1 after the first period.  This time it was Cody Chute who scored short-handed after stealing the puck in the Dresden end.

Lee Bartley upped the Flags’ margin by two at 8:15 of the second period on a power play goal.  The second period was all penalties, as twenty minors, two majors and three ten-minute misconducts were called.

Dresden came out to start the third determined to halt their three-game losing streak, scoring in the first minute.  Jim Rouse, with his first goal of the season, cut the lead to 3-2 while they were playing four on four.  Dustin Cope got the assist.  The Jr. Kings continued to pressure for the equalizer, but couldn’t put another one past Mooretown goalie, Jeff Steadman, as they outshot the Flags 11-3 in the period.

The Jr. Kings record fell to 4-12-0-2 and they remain tied for the last playoff spot in the North Division with the Alvinston Flyers, only a point behind the Blenheim Blades for third.  The Tunstall Three Stars were ……  Kyle Vink, Dustin Cope, and Jim Rouse.  The Kings are off until Friday, Nov. 23rd when they host the Wallaceburg Lakers in Dresden at 7:30 p.m.
