Belle River

Dresden 1 October 5, 2007
The Jr. Kings were put to the challenge
Friday night as the Belle River Canadiens came into town to show
why early season predictions have rated the Canadiens as one of
the league’s best teams. The
Kings didn’t back down from the challenge as they played a
spirited, fast paced game. It
took two late third period goals to finally defeat the Jr. Kings,
4-1.
Belle River opened the scoring at
6:40 of the first period when Matt Beaudoin broke down the right
wing and fired a low shot that beat Dresden’s netminder, Cameron
Graham, on the stick side. The
Jr. Kings tied the score with a power play goal at 11:30. Steve Henry grabbed a rebound in front of the goal and made
no mistake on his opportunity.
Kyle Vink and Alex McDonald drew assists.
The Canadiens capitalized on a fluke
bounce off the boards to score the only goal of the second period.
In the first minute of play, a clearing shot, high behind
the net, hit the glass divider and caromed straight out to Kyle
Graper at the side of the net, who quickly shoveled it past
Graham. For the
second period in a row, the Canadiens outshot the Jr. Kings.
As it has been all season, the Jr.
Kings showed heart and determination in the third period, coming
at the Canadiens hard for the final twenty minutes.
They pressured the Canadiens in their own zone, but
couldn’t come up with the equalizer.
Then at 11:07, Belle River took a 3-1 lead with a power
play goal by Erik Winter on a rebound that just trickled past the
fallen Graham. Devon
Foster rounded out the scoring with a goal at 18:50 to make the
final score, 4-1 Belle River.
The Canadiens did outshoot the Jr.
Kings 43-26, with the Kings holding the edge 13-11 in the final
period. Each team
scored one power play on six opportunities.
The Tunstall Three Stars were ……… Cameron Graham,
Jason Watson, and Jim Rouse.
The Kings travel to Wheatley on Monday night for a game
against the Sharks, and then return home on Friday, Oct. 12th
to play the Essex 73s. Both
games start at 7:30 p.m. |
